| Throughout our history, environmental friendliness has been a key priority for EmilCeramica. Our manufacturing processes have been designed with focus on minimizing our impact on the environment. We are a member of the US Green Building Council (USGBC). We are a leader in the use of recycled material in the production of our products, and all of our products are certified as emitting no VOCs.
EmilCeramica is a leader in the use of pre-consumer recycled content in the manufacture of porcelain tile. A sophisticated treatment process allows us to extract and reuse virtually all solid material from our waste water. Quartz, a key product in the manufacture of porcelain tile, is obtained as a waste product from glass manufacturers. And all production waste is reused in the manufacture of new products. Most of our products contain pre-consumer recycled content up to 42.5%, and several of these products have received third party certifications.
Use of most EmilCeramica products will directly support the achievement of LEED points in the categories of Recycled Content (MR Credit 4) and Low Emitting Materials (MR Credit 4.3). Additional credit may be available for Heat Island Effect - Nonroof (SS Credit 7.1).
