The Balchug Viewpoint Private Apartment: An Oasis of Balance and Minimalism

Arch. Elena Anikina

The brief for the Balchug Viewpoint Private Apartment posed an ambitious design challenge: a luxury refuge combining the serenity of oriental philosophy with the understated purity of European minimalism. Architect Elena Anikina responded to this challenge with great sensitivity, creating an interior that expresses prestige, inner strength and elegant refinement.

The project’s underlying aim was to provide an ambience that conveyed calm and tranquillity while still delivering the utmost convenience for daily life and entertaining guests. To achieve this balance, Elena Anikina concentrated on purity of forms, the use of quality materials and a delicate colour scheme to emphasise the interior’s depth, silence and harmony.

Emilgroup ceramics coverings were chosen for their ability to integrate perfectly into their context, generating visual and functional unity. The Emilgroup surfaces amplify the interiors’ impression of airy freedom, highlighting the apartment’s high ceilings.

In the heart of the kitchen, the Unique Travertine by Provenza collection, in Vein Cut finish and White colour, was installed in the 120x278 cm size as flooring to bestow radiance and a sense of spaciousness. The large slabs expand the interior’s apparent size by minimising joints between tiles and creating an almost monolithic surface, which reinforces the impression of immaculate continuity. The collection’s exquisite texture accurately reproduces the vein patterns of travertine, adding depth and character without overloading the design scheme.

In the bathroom, the Pigmento by Ergon collection in Crema colour was used to create a mood of intimate wellbeing. Its warm, delicate shade helps to transform the bathroom into an oasis of relaxation. The large 120x278 cm size permits minimal joints, reinforcing the perception of a continuous, unbroken surface, essential for minimalist design.
