The new bathrooms of Chef Max Mariola’s home: elegance and style in harmony in Milan

Two unique bathrooms, created with the Tele di Marmo Onyx and Unique Travertine collections.

In the heart of Milan, the apartment of one of Italian cuisine’s biggest stars, Chef Max Mariola, was the location of an exclusive project combining practicality and luxury: two bathrooms created with Emilgroup ceramic projects, expressing two different spirits but both sharing superlative elegance and refinement.

The first bathroom: an exquisite, bright oasis

The first bathroom, designed to be bright, rich and exquisite, was created with the Tele di Marmo Onyx collection, in the lovely Onyx Green and Onyx Ivory shades. The Onyx Green shade, chosen for the walls and floor, creates perfect continuity with the outdoor environment, thanks to the panoramic view of the grounds surrounding the house. The large-size tiles, in 120x278 cm for the walls and 120x120 cm for the floor, bestow a sense of spaciousness and openness, emphasising the incredible natural daylight which floods the room. The washbasin unit, with top in Onyx Green matching the tiles, is yet another detail which enhances the refined design, completed by the gold-bronze finishes chosen for the taps and accessories.

One particularly glamorous feature of this interior is the free-standing bathtub, which becomes the focal point of the bathroom, enhanced by the Onyx Green collection. The warm shades and natural veining of the chosen tiles give this room a sense of luxury and sophistication that combines perfectly with the bronze-gold finishes used. The ante-bathroom, with Onyx Ivory on the walls and Onyx Green on the floor, maintains the same visual language, creating continuity between the various spaces. Every detail of this design scheme is chosen to create a bathroom where beauty and wellbeing reign supreme, without sacrificing functional performance.

The second bathroom: a homage to ancient Rome

The second bathroom, completely different in mood, was designed with the Unique Travertine collection, in Minimal White shade. The aim was to transport something of ancient Rome into present-day Milan, and travertine, with its discreet, timeless elegance, was the perfect choice. Here the challenge was to create an interior which would be bright, minimal and masculine in style, also considering the bathroom’s relatively small size and absence of windows.

The floor and walls were covered with Unique Travertine in Minimal finish, with tiles in size 120x120 cm for the floor and 120x278 cm for the walls. Delicate, luminous White made the interior appear larger while maintaining a mood of understated yet elegant refinement. The washbasin unit was designed with Minimal White Unique Travertine ceramic top, perfectly matched with the rest of the design scheme. The large open shower is another distinctive feature, which highlights the natural beauty of the travertine and reinforces the impression of space.

The Elements decor, chosen for the area behind the washbasin, adds another attractive feature to this bathroom’s design, while the brushed black taps and light fittings provide a sharp colour contrast while harmonising impeccably with the material’s shine. The end result is a bathroom that combines the allure of the ancient Roman tradition with a minimalist, modern aesthetic perfectly suited to the context.

Two bathrooms, two styles, the same luxury

The two bathrooms of Chef Max Mariola’s home may differ in their style and moods, but they both offer an immaculate, timeless elegance. While the first bathroom is bright in character, with exquisite, rich materials, the second one has a distinctive, minimal style, with an understated yet powerful homage to the beauty of travertine. Two very different projects, but they both offer outstanding proof of the ability of Emilgroup products to transform an ordinary bathroom into an experience of luxury and fine design.
